Cat Food
My older cat who is 10 has had a sensitive stomach since I was young. My youngest cat is very demanding and does not like a lot of cat food made for sensitive stomachs. What cat food that is going to be easy on my old cat belly and taste better for my younger cat. I think I found an answer. Try a canned food or dry food grain free like EVO, Wellness CORE, Blue Wilderness, Taste of the Wild. Most foods have a lot of carbohydrates and grains in them and cats are designed to eat meat.

Cat Hairball Symptoms
I can feed my cat Purina hairball control dry food, and usually vomitts food with a big fur ball. Is it supposed to work like that? Or is the food supposed to prevent hairballs. I was happy to learn … Purina hairball control dry food is a very poor choice for a cat with hairballs. It does nothing to improve the cats coat, where the cycle starts hairballs. Let me share with you what I have learned about feline nutrition to help you make an informed decision on what diet you should feed your cats. Several brands of manufactured cat foods claiming to be "healthy" really are not. In fact, are made with the lowest ingredients possible. I'm not saying that a cat can not live off them. . All I could live the same hot dogs and Mac and cheese forever, but better choices can and should be done for their feline friends. I would not say that any manufactured food is "best" for a cat but a grain free organic wet food would be a start. Canned food is certainly better than the dry feed in all cases. Cats were never meant to eat dry food, also known as cereals or kibble. We, humans, who eat it for convenience to us. It has nothing to do with them or their nutritional needs. It is completely inappropriate species. In the wild, cats derive their fluid intake from their prey. They have a thirst mechanism because they do not need it when eating a diet of the species concerned. They get everything they need from what they eat. So do not drink water. Regular ol 'house cats are descended from the same wild cats. Thus, in a familiar environment, your kitty does not get the moisture it needs from dry food and is almost always in a constant state of dehydration. Water sources should try to get your cat to drink more and your kitty may even enjoy it, but it will never meet its water consumption requires a bowl. Deadly feline illnesses such as diabetes failure, kidney disease, obesity, irritable bowel disease (IBD), bladder stones, kidney stones, obstructions of the urinary tract and urinary tract infections (FLUTD), with and without deadly crystals proliferating these days. Cats are not taking enough water to reject them. Adequate water intake through a species appropriate diet alone can prevent most of these conditions. In general, all wet is better for any cats diet, be it canned or Raw and they should never be fed dry cereal kibble if we want to match as closely as their wild nutritional and dietary needs. I think it does not meet our needs … Our cats. It is also true that the kibble cleans teeth. DRY FOOD NOT clean teeth. It's an old myth that has been scientifically disproved for years, but old-school vets drilled into the heads of the people for so long (and sadly still do) that people still think so. Cats can not "chew". They have flat "chewing" teeth. Their molars are not for grinding food. They have meat ripping pointy carnivorous teeth. You can view the "crisis" a piece of food once to crack and break … But they are absolutely unable to chew a hard piece of food. Want your cat to have clean teeth? Give them an appropriately sized raw bone. : O) I personally feed a raw meat and bones diet of my cats and are very healthy on it. I highly recommend. Once I got the hang of it and felt comfortable with him is very easy to prepare. It's something that could be considered one day. Cats are obligate carnivores after all and must derive all the nutrients from meat sources. They are not capable of absorbing from any other source. Despite thousands of years of domestication they are strict carnivores. Meat Eaters true and honest and what they need most. The meat protein. If you are interested in feeding a raw diet any good places to start learning are,, and. If you would like to try raw with your cats and do not want to get all technical about it, but I want to try a trusted, time tested premium and balanced diet may be ordered. I bought myself when I started my cats and they loved it. Another bonus is that you can test prefabricated Varity natures. I personally have never used this but know many people who do and is fairly easy to find if premium is not an option for you to note that there are three categories of manufactured pet foods – "supermarket" foods – ( generic brands and name brands cheap) foods found in supermarkets and mass market retailers are made with lower quality, less-digestible, inexpensive ingredients and therefore a cheaper alternative. During the time easy on the pocket, "grocery store" foods normally do not provide your cat with the healthiest, most nutrient-rich ingredients. -Premium Foods – (Iams / Eukanuba, Purina One, Hills Science Diet, Nutro and such) Foods often found in grocery stores, pet stores and veterinary offices that contain higher grade ingredients, but still many elements of "grocery store" food, such as artificial colors, artificial flavors, chemical preservatives, and "filler" ingredients such as corn and wheat products, by-products and even animal digest. Yuck. Premium foods are usually more expensive than "supermarket" foods because their ingredients are sometimes of higher quality, and therefore somewhat more beneficial and digestible. But do not be fooled, none of these so-called premium brands themselves are sometimes worse than grocery store foods, but they charge prices like best. They are not. Healthy foods – (Wellness, Merrick, Eagle Pack, Drs Foster & Smith) The newest addition to the pet food market – provide pets with the highest quality, healthy and nutritious ingredients. They are usually available for purchase online or directly from the manufacturer. Some retailers are beginning to realize better now. Full Petmart takes a few healthy brand foods. Food in the class containing foods rich in healthy ingredients. Formulated to provide optimum health benefits for pets, these foods often use real meat as the main source of protein, carbohydrate-rich whole grains like rice and barley and whole fruits, fresh vegetables. They should not contain artificial preservatives, flavors or colors. They almost always be fortified with vitamins and minerals, and use the best natural sources of fatty acids to help build healthy skin and beautiful hair. Because healthy foods use high quality ingredients, you should expect to pay a little more than you would for other types of pet food. Remember, though, with healthy foods you can eat less since healthy foods are richer in nutrients than other foods so commonly leveled or cost-les than feeding foods filled with cheap non- nutritional fillers. With all that information in mind, when you are choosing a new cat food, study the ingredients. All ingredients on pet food labels are listed by weight. Meaning what ingredients are listed first on the list, there is more to this country. The first ingredients listed should be whole meat ingredients, protein sources like chicken or turkey. Not only the word "meat". Who the hell knows what that is? The word chicken meal is fine, but should be a secondary ingredient, not first. The food is the meat dehydrated and ground into a powder. The ingredients also should not include or animal digest whatsoever. Those are disgusting left at animal parts that are scraped off the dirt floors of meat and poultry plants. Just go away but put them into pet food instead. EW …. Also make sure that there are no colors or artificial flavors. And make sure there are no preservatives BHA and BHT used. These preservatives have been shown to cause cancer in dogs and cats. The bad thing is wrong and that in almost all treatments for any cat in the market. Therefore, in the summer of the ingredients … If you see the words by-products, Animal Digest, the word "meat" alone, Corn, Corn Gluten, Wheat Gluten, or BHA or BHT … Stop reading, note that products move on to the next. Note that when switching to a healthy, holistic or organic, that will buy what you get. Good foods are not cheap. They are expensive and will cost more than cheaper products, like meat costs more than hotdogs. But again, you feed him better food and improve the overall health of your pet. This in turn leads to less vet visits for illness now and more importantly later in life in their geriatric years. Also feed less of this food on a per animal due to a smaller amount of food contains what your cat needs. Overall healthy wet foods are worthwhile, if only for peace of mind that the ingredients are better for your cat cheap shit. You can start your research for a healthy cat food here if you are not ready to try feeding a raw diet: If you want to buy in a store full Petmart is a good store and carries a number of mixtures of natural products , organic and holistic. Also check with your local feed / grain stores. I recommend you take the time to investigate for himself, but the information I have in case you get off to a good start. Good luck choosing a new healthy food. IMPORTANT *************** Do not forget to change the animal food slowly over a period of 10 to 14 days, if possible. Mixture of 25% to 75% new age. Then, 50/50 … Then 75% to 25% new age. And finally the new switch to 100%. Take it easy not to disturb your digestive system. Side note … Please do not feed Iams / Eukanuba. It's all fillers, byproducts, animal digest and waste. Read the ingredients. There is nothing good for your cat in that food. Not to mention that carrying out the most appalling animal testing you have ever seen. Htt

Cat Problems
I have heard that dry cat food is bad for your cats health. My cat loves dry cat food and only eats a small amount of the wet cat food. I used to give her dry food in the mornings but now I have started to give her wet cat food as that would be the time when she's the most hungry. This morning she woke me up meowing becuase she was hungry and I fed her one of those small tins of cat food and she only ate half. An hour later she still didn't finish it. I gave her a small pile of dry cat food and she ran straight over and ate it. I don't think it is enough food for her to be eating only one small tin of cat food a day (half in the morning, half at night). She is already small and although her weight is okay, she really doesn't need to be any thinner. What I found out was – Good for you. You're doing the right thing. I went through this myself, and it took me two weeks. First of all, be prepared to waste a bit of money. And to be patient. Buy several different brands of food, and get different varieties of each. Offer a bit of that, and if your cat responds to any, make note of the brand and flavor. It may be that he'll like venison or turkey, or perhaps he'll like any flavor from a certain manufacturer. You are right to switch gradually. I think you could continue what you're doing – offer the dry food once per day – give him 1/2 to 3/4 of what he would usually get. You could even break that into two meals although I don't think that really matters. By reducing the amount of food, your cat still is getting food but will also still be hungry. And hunger might be a great inducer to try new things. You could also try mixing some dry in with the canned. Basically, you're doing the right thing. Just be patient and try other foods too. EDIT: Whoever told you this was on the mark. Don't worry about the uninformed opinions out here. And dry food doesn't clean their teeth; you don't have to worry about that myth either.
