Cats Grooming
When cats groom themselves, they pull their hair with their tough tongues. Do they digest the fur and does it come out when they use the litter box? Or, like owls, do they have a special place to hold the fur, and eventually throw it up in hairballs. Well, I have your answer right here. Mostly it passes. Hairballs are formed when a cat grooms itself and swallows hairs. Since hair is not easily digested, it can compact with undigested food in the stomach and gastrointestinal tract. I'mpactions are serious business, and sometimes must be removed surgically. In lesser cases they can cause painful constipation. Get yourself the Furminator cat brush, it really works, since I began using it, no more hairballs.

Diarrhea Cats
My cat has been having diarrhea on and off for a couple weeks, she is still making it to the litter box but when I clean it out it's apparent she's having issues. Anything I can do to help her out? I do not feed her table food or any tuna or fish or milk. She's been on the same diet for months and is an indoor cat. She's never been out of my apartment in the four months I've had her. She is 8 years old and about 2 lbs overweight but otherwise healthy. Basically… Try a bland diet for a couple of days, as an example chicken and rice, or white fish. (You should also check she is up to date with her worming program. ) Then gradually wean her back onto her normal food, if this doesn't help you may need to notice a vet for antibiotics.

Older Cat
I admit i'm more of a dog person, but i've had this cat for 16 yrs. I got her when she was 1 week old and had to bottle feed her. I know i'm going to have to make my peace with her before too long, but the vet says she's in good shape. Hearing and eyesight are still there. She doesn't walk as smoothly as she once did. Here's the thing. For the last 6 months she has done nothing but march around the house YOWLING. She's part siamese so you know how horrible that can be. The vet suggested the on set of dimentia but she hasn't forgotten where her litter box is. Anyone have an idea how I can find out what her problem is? She's always been meticulous so her box is cleaned at least 2x a day. Does anyone speak siamese? Yep. Fixed when she was about 5 months. After looking around, I learned — You might ask your vet about a bladder or kidney problem in your cat. I know you say that the cat's litter box behavior hasn't changed, but I've heard cases where the only real indication of a problem was yowling (in pain basically). Bladder/kidney issues are common in older cats. It's a thought anyway. You might also consult a different vet, just to get a second opinion.
